21-year-old Joseph Carlo Candare was ordered by the Metropolitan trial court to take care of maltreated or abandoned pets as punishment for killing a cat after he pleaded guilty last Thursday.
The UP student blogged about killing a stray cat in his online diary in 2009 that angered people who advocates against animal cruelty. This is the infamous entry:
“I pulled it on its tail and threw it. Then like some pro wrestler I jumped on it and my feet landed on it’s (sic) torso. Slam! Felt good! But the cat didn’t die, well not yet.”
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society was the organization who got a screenshot of Candare’s blog and eventuallly filed charges.
