In a press conference, weather forecasters said tropical depression Dodong has entered the country and is expected to bring widespread rains over Metro Manila, and the western section of central and southern Luzon. Dodong is moving at 7kph in a west-northwest direction.
In PAGASA's 10:30 a.m. advisory, Dodong was last spotted 130 km West Northwest of Metro Manila or 70 km South SouthWest of Iba, Zambales.
Weather forecaster Rene Pasiente said he expects Dodong to leave the Philippines' area of responsibility by Friday afternoon. He said storm warning signals may be lowered within the day.
"Most probably tomorrow afternoon, we will see gradual improvement of weather here in Metro Manila. There could be some rains in Central and Northen Luzon," he said.
PAGASA Deputy Director Nathaniel Servando said water levels in the country's major dams are below critical levels. He said the enhanced southwest monsoon could bring rains to the Western section of Luzon including Southern Luzon.
