GenSan woman has 244 grandchildren for Guinness World Records

A woman from General Santos City has a strong chance of making it to the Guinness World Records for having the most number of grandchildren at 244.

Bai Ulan-Ulan Kudanding, 102, beat out her townmate, 94-year-old Joacquina Bartiller, who claimed to have 160 grandchildren.

Currently, a couple from the United Kingdom holds the world record at 99 grandkids.

From Kudanding's 14 children, she has 107 grandchildren, 135 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

One of her daughters, Marawiya, has 19 children.

Secret to long life

At age 102, Kudanding still remembers the names of her children.

One of her sons, Mantil, noted how Kudanding is a very caring and protective mother.

"She doesn't like her kids to go out at night," Mantil said in his native dialect.

Kudanding said her secrets to long life are eating many fruits and vegetables, and her strong faith in Allah. -- Report from Rhea Lara, ABS-CBN General Santos
