DOT, It's more fun in the Philippines campaign ‘similar’ to Switzerland’s

On January 6, the hashtag #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines became a Twitter trending topic worldwide.

The DOT on Twitter said, "We are trending WORLDWIDE. Thank you Filipinos! More Fun in the Philippines #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines #1ForFun"

The latter hashtag, #1ForFun, corresponds to the slogan for local tourism.

Netizens including public officials, celebrities, and media personalities expressed their appreciation on the new slogan, most-anticipated by many since the DOT scrapped the widely criticized "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" campaign, the logo of which was apparently lifted from Poland's design.

Even industry observers agreed that the new campaign is better than the previous ones. There was a celebration on social networking sites...then someone found a loophole - its similarity to a slogan in the Switzerland tourism ad which is sold in vintage ad websites. The ad read "It's more fun in Switzerland!"

A screenshot immediately spread online and some internet users were quick to react negatively, with an allegation that the DOT copied it.
