Typhoon Egay, PAG ASA update: Signal no. 1 up in 14 Luzon provinces

Low pressure 'Egay'According to the 11 a.m. weather bulletin issued by PAGASA on Sunday, Signal no. 1 is hoisted over the following areas:

Aurora
Quirino
Nueva Vizcaya
Ifugao
Mt. Province
Isabela
Cagayan
Calayan
Babuyan Group of Islands
Batanes Group of Islands
Kalinga
Abra
Apayao
Ilocos Norte

PAGASA lowered the public storm warning signals elsewhere.

As of 10 a.m., Egay was located 170 kilometers per hour (kph) east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It was moving northwest at 17 kph.

Egay is expected to be 130 km northwest of Aparri, Cagayan on Monday morning. It is projected to be 410 km northwest of Basco, Batanes on Tuesday morning.

PAGASA said Egay “is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring rains over the Western section of Central and of Southern Luzon and of Visayas.”

The weather bureau warned residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Signal No. 1 against possible flash floods and landslides.
